Yamaha lifeline opens up for Miller

Miller

By Thomas Miles

Australia’s Jack Miller may remain on the MotoGP grid in 2025 with a potential lifeline opening up at a familiar place.

Prima Pramac Racing is switching from Ducati to Yamaha in 2025 and Miller is firming as one of the riders to push the team into a new era.

Both motosan.es and Sky Sports Italy have reported the Australian is set to form part of the team’s new-for-2025 line-up.

The Sky Italy report states “Yamaha Prima Pramac is increasingly closer to closing an agreement with the Australian”.

It is reported Miller will be joined by Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira, who is currently at Trackhouse.

Whilst the team is moving to Yamaha, it will be familiar surroundings for Miller having raced for Pramac for three years from 2018-2020.

During that time the #43 took nine podiums, including a special runner-up finish at the 2019 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.

It paved the way for Miller to step up to the factory Ducati squad where he enjoyed his most fruitful seasons winning three races and finishing fourth in the 2021 season.

Since 2023 Miller has been racing for KTM, but has battled after a promising start in their first four races together and is currently 16th in the standings. The Australian has been dropped from the factory completely being overlooked by both KTM and Tech3, leaving him at the crossroads.

In addition to returning to Pramac, Miller will also have a potential reunion with owner Paolo Campinoti and engineer Max Bartolini with whom he had worked in the two Ducati seasons.

The news is certainly refreshing after Miller’s worrying Silverstone update where he said the “phone isn’t ringing” and he was unsure what the future held.

The Pramac Yamaha rumour is the first that sees Miller continue Australia’s presence on the MotoGP grid with a Ducati World SuperBike deal also rumoured.

MotoGP goes racing in Austria this weekend.
