Rising Australian teenage talent Pat Heuzenroeder will take on the competitive GB3 Championship full time with top team JHR Developments in 2024.

Heuzenroeder is the first driver to be signed up be the squad which won the 2023 teams championship and will complete a full season in GB3 for the first time.

The former Sydneysider made his GB3 Championship debut at a wet Zandvoort having just one day of previous experience behind the wheel of the Elite Motorsport car.

After recording a top result of 18th across his first five races Heuzenroeder turned heads by climbing onto the podium in the final race of just his second GB3 championship round.

Following the impressive appearance, Heuzenroeder eyed a full-time GB3 campaign this year and the dream will become a reality in 2024 with JHR Developments.

The Aussie already has previous experience with the team having completed some winter testing during the off season.

Boosted by the drive, Heuzenroeder is now full of excitement about the year ahead and already feels at home with the new team.

“I’m very pleased to be joining JHR Developments for the 2024 GB3 Championship,” he said.

“We worked extremely hard in winter testing, and I really enjoyed being in and around the team.

“They have a wealth of experience and are a great bunch who seem to understand my Aussie sense of humour! We worked well together from the first day.

“After a very competitive testing programme I was grateful to be rewarded with a seat in the team which won the 2023 GB3 Teams’ Championship title and I feel really confident JHR is a great fit for me.

“I can’t wait to get the season underway in late March.”

Heuzenroeder began his motorsport journey aged 13 at Sydney Motorsport Park where his passion for go-karting was sparked.

His breakout opportunity arrived in 2022 when he finished third in the New South Wales Formula Ford Championship, which was his first campaign out of karting.

In that same year he also made it to the final of the Ferrari Driver Academy Asia Pacific selection trials and narrowly missed out on selection in the final worldwide shootout in Italy.

Last year Heuzenroeder took the plunge of moving more than 16,000km to the United Kingdom to chase his F1 dream.

He took on the British Formula 4 Championship where he scored one podium at Snetteton before finishing 19th in the championship.

During his debut at Donington Park, he caught the eye of Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 team Sporting Director Ron Meadows.

“Patrick is one of those people who you cannot help but want to root for, he’s a genuine, top class young man,” Meadows said.

“I’ve been watching Patrick closely during his British F4 debut, I’m impressed by his dedication, commitment and hard-working attitude, always looking to learn and improve each time he steps into the car.

“He’s certainly one to watch out for.”

Heuzenroeder and JHR Developments will race together for the first time at Oulton Park on March 30 to April 1, whilst the calendar also incorporates current and former F1 tracks such as Silverstone, Spa, Hungaroring, Brands Hatch and Donington Park.
