Supercars confirm live pit lane for 2024

By Timothy Neal

The Supercars Commission has confirmed that the series will adopt a live pit lane order for the 2024 season.

That means the first round of 2024 at the Bathurst 500 will see either Erebus or Triple Eight take the number 1 garage position after the VAILO Adelaide 500 is done and dusted, with the pit order to then revolve around the leading team from the previous event.

Heading into the final round of the season, Erebus currently hold a 170 gap to Triple Eight, who have held the first two pit bays for the previous two seasons since taking out the 2021 teams mantle from DJR.

The idea was being explored earlier in the season by the commission which was supported unanimously at the time.

Grove Racing’s David Reynolds was one driver to voice his support for the idea when it was first floated.

“I reckon it’s a top idea, things like this are good, it creates a lot of debate,” Reynolds said.

“You’ll find it’s mixed at the start of the year, but it’ll level out as teams find their places. I’ve always thought it would be a good thing.”

2024 will go ahead with 10 two car teams after Blanchard Racing confirmed it will expand its one car team next season.

The final round of the season heads for the streets of Adelaide for the VAILO Adelaide 500 on November 23-26.
