The schedule for the 60th anniversary Bathurst 1000 is set with the 2023 edition of the Great Race to begin at 11.15 AEST.
The Sunday morning start time is unchanged from last year’s race, while 11.15 was also the moment lights went out from 2016-2018.
The Great Race traditionally started at 10.00 local time from 1979 to 2006 before it went half an hour later in 2007 when Channel 7 took over broadcast rights from Channel 10.
The latest Bathurst start time is 12.15 when the 2021 was the first and only Great Race to start in the afternoon.
In addition to the Bathurst 1000 start time, the entire schedule has been confirmed. All up Supercars will hit the track in 10 separate sessions across the four day event between Thursday, October 5 and Sunday, October 8.
There will be six practice sessions spread from Thursday to Saturday with two of them featuring co-drivers only.
Things get serious at 16.15 on Friday afternoon with a 40-minute qualifying session where the top 10 get the mountain all to themselves in the famous one-lap shootout which fires up at 17.05 Saturday evening.
On Bathurst Day fans will be woken up as early as 07.25 when the V8 SuperUtes hit the track, while Supercars complete a Warm Up at 08.00.
Toyota 86 Series and Porsche Carrera Cup races will help pass the time before the 60th anniversary Bathurst 1000 begins at 11.15.
In addition to Supercars there will be five separate support categories entertaining the fans.
Ending a Great Race absence of the best part of three decades will be the Precision National Sports Sedans.
The sight of a host of fast, powerful and loud cars such as Jordan Caruso’s Audi and Tony Ricciardello’s Alfa Romeo screaming up Mount Panorama across three races will be a sight to behold.
It will be a big round in the Dunlop Series being one the penultimate round of the development series.
Their usual two 45-minute race format will remain in play with many of the leading Super2 drivers also having a crack at the big one.
The Toyota 86 Series makes its annual trek to Mount Panorama for three six-lap races.
Also enjoying a trio of sprints around Bathurst is the Porsche Carrera Cup Series, which will host round six of its season.
The V8 SuperUtes also have a busy schedule which includes four races across the weekend.
Off the track the annual Pirtek Pit Stop Challenge will be decided at 11.50 on Thursday.

'description' => 'The Supercars Championship, currently known as the Repco Supercars Championship, is the premier motorsport category in Australasia and one of Australia\'s biggest sports. It originated from the Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC), which held its first race in 1960 at Gnoo-Blas in Orange, New South Wales. The ATCC evolved over the years, and in 1997, it was rebranded as the V8 Supercars Championship, eventually becoming the Supercars Championship we know today.
Some of the leading drivers in the history of the Supercars Championship include Peter Brock, who is often referred to as the "King of the Mountain" for his nine victories at the Bathurst 1000, a race that is considered one of the biggest in the series. Other notable drivers include Dick Johnson, Marcos Ambrose, Craig Lowndes, Shane van Gisbergen, Jamie Whincup, who holds the record for the most championship titles, and Mark Skaife, who has also been a dominant force in the series.
The Bathurst 1000, held at Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, is arguably the most famous race in the Supercars calendar. Other significant races include the Sandown 500 and the Adelaide 500, which are known for their challenging circuits and thrilling competitions.
The Supercars Championship has grown to become a globally recognized series, known for its competitive racing and passionate fan base. It continues to be a major part of Australia\'s motorsport culture, attracting top drivers and teams from around the world.',
