Jones makes Monaco Mobil 1 Supercup debut

Aussie racer Harri Jones is set to make his race debut in the world’s premier one-make Porsche series at Monaco this weekend for Lechner Racing.
The 22-year-old Queenslander took out the Australian Carrera Cup Championship last season, and will slot straight into the highest level of Porsche one-make racing via the F1 exclusive series with one of its stronger teams.
With his Monaco practice session already in the bag, Jones says that he feels more than ready to capitalise on a strong practice outing ahead of tonight’s qualifying.

Australia’s reigning Carrera Cup champion Harri Jones, has gone straight to the premier Porsche one-make series for Lechner Racing
The #2 Lechner Racing Supercup rookie was in P9 after practice, putting down a 1:35.398 around the famous street circuit to be +1.082 off the pace from Dutch GP Elite racer Larry ten Voorde. In the elite 28 car field, Jones is one of 10 rookies, with his P9 placing him as the highest rookie.
“Practice complete at Monaco, this place is special,” Jones said.
“It was a tricky session with lots of red flags and traffic, but we managed to sneak a few laps in and gradually build the pace.
“P9 on the time sheets as well as the fastest rookie. Tomorrow is the big one though… Qualifying at Monaco, and I’m feeling confident.

After the Imola season opener was cancelled, Jones makes his Mobil 1 Supercup debut at Monaco
“To say I’m excited is an understatement, especially when you add the fact that we had to wait one week longer than expected as Imola (Round 1) was unfortunately cancelled last weekend. My thoughts go out to all those impacted by the disaster.”
Jones’ first ever Supercup Qualifying session is tonight at 2:45 am AEST, with the season’s first race coming on Sunday 7:55 pm AEST, which can be seen live alongside the F1 avenues of viewing.
