Brown nails it for Race 10 pole

Will Brown stormed to another pole position, claiming top spot for Race 10, the third of his career and second for the year.
Waters was quick throughout the three-part session, but he couldn’t stop Jack Le Brocq’s love affair with Symmons Plains as he stole the front row spot over the Tickford Mustang and Brodie Kostecki.
Waters was the only Mustang to make the top-ten, as the Camaro’s again dominate the front of the field.
It was a nightmare session for David Reynolds as he experienced Q1 issues, with DJR also having a tough outing with De Pasquale’s clutch issues continuing, and Davison getting knocked out of Q2 as well as getting a subsequent grid penalty for impeding.

The three part qualifying got going with fresh Super Softs all round, with the temp having risen from four to 11 degrees over the course of the morning.
Half the field stayed in for the 15 minute Q1 opener, with drivers facing a big headwind down the back straight and looking for a tow.
With eight minutes left the rest of the field entered, all except Reynolds, whose Mustang had a tyre sensor failure at an ill fated time.
With the initial 12 runners heading in, Le Brocq, Kostecki and Waters went top, with SVG jumping into P4.
The jostle for the bottom five cut had Smith, Fraser, Jones, De Pasquale and Reynolds, with the #11 DJR having to go back in with more problems.
With three minutes left, Reynolds finally got out with plenty of pressure to cut a time to get off the bottom, as did De Pasquale inside two minutes, still having clutch problems.
Davison got that tow to go top, as Reynolds had one more chance but couldn’t get out, with Fullwood, De Pasquale, Fraser and Jones also missing the cut.

The 15 minute Q2 followed for the top-ten cut, with most of the field hanging back again.
Plenty of traffic filled the track at 12 minutes for some initial searching runs, with every driver on used tyres.
Heimgartner got a safe number early with a 51.204, as did SVG with a quicker 153, which Kostecki then matched exactly.
Percat’s P10 time of 51.441s was the number to beat with three minutes left as the whole field entered the track.
Waters put in a weekend high of 50.869 to top Kostecki, as the drivers jostled to stay in the top ten, needing to beat 51.169 to stay in.
Missing out were Mostert, Slade, Percat, Winterbottom, Courtney, Davison, Payne, Randle, Hazelwood and Smith (+0.662).
Davison was also slapped with a four spot grid penalty for impeding, with DJR having a tough opening day.

The moment of truth for the Race 10 grid had the final Q3 session underway with another 15 on the clock.
Waters was in a nice set-up window putting down a 51.080 to top Feeney and SVG early as the field went in with 5 minutes remaining.
Golding jumped early but got his lap ruined by traffic, and then lost a tow from Brown to sit in P5.
Under a minute remained with Brown on a flyer with a flip tow from Golding to go top with a 50.878 over Le Brocq, Waters and Kostecki.
That’e how the top four stayed, with Heimgartner, Feeney, Hill, Golding, SVG, and Pye making up the top ten.
