Kostecki back on clay for weekend double-header

By Timothy Neal

Brodie Kostecki will be back for some more Sprintcar action this weekend, taking on some of Australia’s premier Speedway talent at Archerfield and Toowoomba Speedway.

The #99 Erebus Camaro racer leads the Supercars championship race after Round 2, but he’ll be taking on some different championship leaders over the weekend, as well as making his debut at Archerfield on the Saturday night.

Kostecki will attempt to tangle with East Coast Logistics Track Championship leader Luke Oldfield on Saturday night, who’s been tearing up Archerfield this season, and is yet to finish outside the top three in any race there this season.

Then on Sunday, he’ll head to the Toowoomba Speedway where he’ll take to the track against the likes of American bound Aussie Sprintcar star Lachlan McHugh, who’s leading the points heading into the finale of the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship.

McHugh is leading the series by 28 points over Cody Maroske, who in turn leads the East Coast championship leader, Oldfield, by only 2 points.

Along with the two heat finals, the support program at Toowoomba consists of the final round of the Formula 500s (22 cars) and Wingless (37 cars) Easter Series and the Queensland Title for Mod Lites (42 cars).

At Archerfield on Saturday night, the familiar nominations on the hallowed Queensland clay will also feature Taylor Prosser, Aaron Kelly, Adam Butler, Randy Morgan, Brent Kratzmann, Kevin Titman and rookie sensation, Harry Stewart.

Elsewhere in Supercars related Sprintcar action, Cameron Waters will be racing at Warrnambool this weekend on Sunday at Premier Speedway.

Gates open at 15:00pm at Archerfield for online ticket holders, and 16:00pm for general admissions, with the early action starting at 17:00, and the main program from 18:00.

Whilst at the Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway, the general admission gates open from 15:00, with the racing starting from 16:00, and the Sprintcars on track from 17:30.
