By Timothy Neal

Kostecki claimed the first ever Supercars Gen3 pole in a ridiculously tight top-ten shootout, with Waters just missing out in the Tickford Mustang.

Reynolds had a big slide through the second sector, but turned it on through the last to put the #26 into P3 with Slade then coming out as the second PremiAir Camaro.

Slade’s first shootout for his new squad had him flying down the esplanade, putting up good numbers to take P3 off Reynolds, making it four cars so far within 0.02 seconds.

SVG entered the arena with an instant error, seeing a big lock-up at the first corner carving him off the apex, but a good recovery put him in P5 with a 12.04.

Mostert then took the #25 Mustang to a strong second sector, but could only manage P6 in a very tight leaderboard with Kostecki to come.

The Qualifying winner was close through the second sector, and the sprint to the line got him there, going under 12 to edge out Waters by .153.
