Phillip Island completes SpeedSeries calendar

The famous Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit is the final addition to the eight-round 2023 SpeedSeries calendar.
After a date change to the Sandown round and addition of Winton, the To Be Confirmed round 3 was the only question mark left to answer on the SpeedSeries schedule.
The series run by the Australian Racing Group incorporates the TCR Australia, S5000, Trans Am, Touring Car Masters, V8 Touring Cars and GT World Challenge Australia categories.
Events such as Race Tasmania, the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 hour and the Bathurst International were already locked in, but now fans can also enjoy the sweeping bends and stunning scenery that Phillip Island provides.
The 4.445km circuit which plays host to the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix has also been a regular stop for the SpeedSeries roadshow.
Last year the round was held in March when Fabian Coulthard won two of the three TCR races on offer and Liam Talbot/Chaz Mostert and Yasser Shahin/Christopher Mies split the GT Australia honours, while Owen Kelly was able to topple Nathan Herne in the Trans Am’s.
This year the round will be the third event on the SpeedSeries schedule on May 12-14, a month after the Bathurst 6 Hour and leading up to the Winton event.

The Phillip Island round will be the first of three Victorian events and like all SpeedSeries rounds will be broadcast live across Stan Sport and Channel Nine’s free-to-air networks.
Motorsport Australia director of motorsport and commercial operations Michael Smith said Phillip Island is always a popular destination.
“We’ve been going to Phillip Island for many years as part of the Shannons Nationals, the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships and now the SpeedSeries,” Smith said.
“The feedback from drivers, teams, officials and spectators is always overwhelmingly positive and we know the racing will be enjoyable and competitive.
“This event is the final piece in the 2023 SpeedSeries calendar which promises to deliver some amazing racing, a wide range of categories and visits to the best Australian circuits.”
ARG chief operation officer Liam Curkpatrick said it is great to fill the ‘final piece of the puzzle’ for 2023.
“Phillip Island is an iconic venue that has witnessed some of the best moments in Australian motorsport and we are excited to add another chapter to that in May this year,” Curkpatrick said.
“This final piece of the puzzle allows us to confirm a number of category’s 2023 schedules and we are eager to get this year’s SpeedSeries underway with AWC Race Tasmania in February.
“Together with Motorsport Australia, the Australian Racing Group is looking forward to one of the biggest calendar of the events in recent times. We’ve now got an amazing eight events to look forward to, including the addition of the TCR World Tour later this year.”
