Adelaide Rally returns to Victoria park

The Shannons Adelaide Rally finale will kick start a massive week of motorsport at the Victoria Park street circuit on November 26-27.
Some big names and famous machines will feature on the circuit in the lead up to the VALO Adelaide 500.
Craig Lowndes, Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood are just a few of the names that will be featured along with some demonstrations of classic F1 cars following the Adelaide Rally finale.
The rally, taking place between 3-4pm, will feature more than 300 cars across several categories with manufacturing giants such as Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, McLaren and more to take to the streets in a display of more than $100 million dollars worth of iconic machinery.

Lowndes will be behind the wheel of a Footwork FA15 Formula 1 car during the demonstrations following the Adelaide Rally
Following that, the demonstrations and a headline Roll Race will run from 4-6:30pm, where Lowndes will be taking to the circuit in a FA15 1994 Formula 1 car.
The Roll Race will then include Lowndes in a Lamborghini Huracan EVO, Kostecki in an Erebus Motorsport V8 Supercar (Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG running Holden ZB Commodore bodywork, nicknamed the ‘Mercodore’), and Hazelwood in a McLaren 720S.
Fans will see a V8 Supercar, against sportscars and rally cars in a two-by-two contest down the front straight of the Adelaide Street Circuit. There will be three Roll Race sessions, with a knockout format culminating in a head-to-head final Shootout of the two quickest cars.

the free Adelaide Rally Display will feature some serious machinery for the public to view as part of a huge motorsport festival
Classic Formula 1 cars headline the demonstrations, with the Lola Larousse LC88 that raced in the Adelaide Grand Prix in 1988 and the Footwork FA15 1994 Formula 1 car, which will be driven by Lowndes, joining an S5000 and a Formula 5000 car in the open-wheeler on-track sessions.
Other sessions and cars include sportscars, sedans, exotics and classics, in a taste of what fans can expect at the 2023 Adelaide Motorsport Festival from March 25 to 26, also at Victoria Park.
Shannons Adelaide Rally event director Tim Possingham, says that the event is a significant one for the people of Adelaide and motorsport fans in general.
“The Shannons Adelaide Rally Victoria Park Finale is a significant event as it is the coming together of the Adelaide Rally, Adelaide Motorsport Festival and the Adelaide 500, in the first racing action on the iconic circuit since February 2020,” Possingham said.
“It will be a great lead-in into the Adelaide 500 to get people revved up for the event, featuring everything from a Formula 1 car to a V8 Supercar to classics and exotics.
“It’s a free community event, giving the Adelaide motoring and motorsport community an opportunity to attend a non-ticketed event to celebrate the return of racing to the circuit. Our vision is to run the Adelaide Rally in the week before the Adelaide 500 going forward, with plans to expand on the Victoria Park Finale, while the Adelaide Motorsport Festival is locked in for the week before the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.”
The Shannons Adelaide Rally Victoria Park Finale is one of two free city-based community events in the 2022 Shannons Adelaide Rally. The full rally field will be on display at the annual Gouger Street Party, with live music and extended outdoor dining along the restaurant strip from 5pm on Friday November 25.
Adelaide Hills residents will get the chance to see the Shannons Adelaide Rally across two lunch stops: from 11:30am in Uraidla at the Uraidla Showgrounds on Saturday November 26 and in Strathalbyn at the Soldiers Memorial Gardens on Sunday November 27.
