Coffs Coast Festival of Motor Sport announce new opening

By Timothy Neal

The gala opening to the Coffs Coast Festival on Motor Sport has officially been moved to the 12th of November due to weather conditions.

Tomorrow was meant to be the official opening of the inaugural month-long festival, with a huge gala Motor Show set to kick off the spectacular four week event, however, several of the actual motorsport events will continue as planned over the whole month and this weekend.

But due to the recently inclement weather, the grassed area that was to display over 400 exhibits has been deemed unusable and regretfully cancelled because of the weather that’s been and the expected forecast.

The new opening will now officially be the Massive Bike Show on November 12 at the Coffs Harbour Racing Club on Howard St starting at 10am on the Saturday morning.

The bike show will incorporate large internal areas with a display of new and classic/vintage motorbikes , as well as outdoor displays beneath the grandstand.

Although the Motor Show won’t make the starting grid, the Burnout comp at the Raleigh Raceway will still proceed on the Sunday November 6 at 10am, whilst the first of the tri-series RedPoint Hillclimb will also go ahead at 8am in South Grafton; both events have attracted great entrant numbers.

The weekend of the Massive Bike Show will also feature the opening day of the Flat Track Racing Champions of Dirt at the Coffs Harbour Motorcycle Club Dirt Track, as well as the Rally Cross New Championship across the whole weekend. The RedPoint Hillclimb will also witness two more rounds over the same weekend.

The following weekend (November 19-20) has Flat Track Racing featuring the Sultans of Slide, as well as the Karting.

The weekend of November 26-27 will be one of the biggest weekends of action on this year’s Australian Motorsport calendar, featuring the FIA’s Asia Pacific Rally Championship final, The finale of the Australian Rally Championship, the NSW Rally Championship, the Off Road Racing, and Speedway on the Saturday night at the Grafton Speedway.
