TCR WORLD TOUR TO HEAD DOWN UNDER

The new TCR World Tour Series (WSC) will incorporate Australia as part of its nine legs in 2023, bringing the globe’s best touring car racers to our shores.
The new series is a consolidation of TCR racing globally under the WSC group, replacing the previous independently operated WTCR series.
Starting in Europe, the series will then come to Australia late in the year, where it will compete with TCR Australia drivers.
Following the ninth race, a TCR World Final will be held where the top 15 drivers in the World Tour will qualify, with the next best ranked drivers in the TCR World Rankings invited to a four-day ‘World Final.’ The event could see up to 60 drivers competing for the ultimate crown in TCR competition (the venue for the world final is yet to be confirmed).
Titles in the TCR World Tour and TCR World Final will be awarded for drivers, teams and manufacturers.
TCR Australia has also been selected by WSC to also be one of the first regions to implement hybrid technology to its existing power plants, with the inclusion of push to pass technology. The inclusion of the series in the TCR World Tour will now see some local deployment and testing commence in Australia in 2023 with a full rollout in time for the 2024 season.

TCR Europe will host the first rounds of the new world series before heading to our shores in late 2023
Marcello Lotti, WSC Group President, will be attending the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia finale at Bathurst on November 11-13. Lotti praised the Australian series for its high quality.
“Australia has consistently been one of the most exciting and professional TCR series and we are delighted to acknowledge this by bringing the benefit of a global audience and the TCR World Tour to Australia,” Lotti said.
“The global calendar for the TCR World Tour will be released shortly, and Australia will form a key part of that calendar.
“The TCR World Tour will race in Australia which will see the manufacturer customer racing TCR World Tour teams race in Australia with the TCR Australia teams and series.”
ARG’s Liam Curkpatrick, its Chief Operating Officer, notes the significance of TCR Australia being incorporated as part of this massive global event.
“This is a very major achievement for Australia to feature as part of the new TCR World Tour Series, it’s a significant commitment by WSC and the teams to come here and compete at our venues,” Curkpatrick said.
“It’s a great opportunity for our own drivers to showcase their talent to a global audience and potentially create new opportunities as a result.
“It is also pleasing to see the increased driver pathways that we are now seeing with the resumption of international travel; this has included Aaron Cameron competing in the FIA World games in TCR, Nathan Herne in the USA competing in Trans AM along with international drivers, and now the TCR World Tour Series coming to Australia.
“For now, we look forward to our own TCR series finale at the Bathurst International on November 11-13.”
