Aussie international Matt Campbell will return home to line up for the Bathurst 1000 for Kelly Grove Racing.

After a scheduling conflict ruled out Earl Bamber, the Victorian Supercars squad delved back into the pool of talented Porsche drivers to find a new partner for Andre Heimgartner for this year’s Great Race.

“Once it was confirmed Earl couldn’t make the event due to the conflict in his racing schedule, it was vital that we found somebody of a very high calibre to replace Earl, and we know we have that in Matt Campbell.” said Stephen Grove, Team Owner.

“We’re all very excited to have him come back and race with us at the Bathurst 1000.”

Campbell is no stranger to the Bathurst 1000, with two starts to his credit. The first in 2016 alongside Kelly Grove Racing co-owner Todd Kelly and before being recruited by Triple Eight to partner Shane Van Gisbergen in 2017.

The Porsche factory driver is an endurance racing specialist with plenty of experience at Mt Panorama including two Bathurst 12 Hour wins. In 2017 Campbell was a key part of the driver line-up that secure the Pro-Am class in 2017 before winning the race outright in 2019.

Campbell also has also taken wins in the 24 Hours of Dubai and the 24 Hours of Le Man in GTE Am Class, since he wrapped up the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia title in 2016.

The team has confirmed that Campbell will join them in Sydney in mid-November to partake in the enduro testing and begin preparations for the Bathurst 1000.
