Hazelwood already eyeing enduros

Todd Hazelwood is eagerly awaiting the 2024 Supercars enduros as he has some “unfinished business” with Erebus Motorsport.

Hazelwood received the unexpected opportunity of racing in the first two rounds of the 2024 Supercars season with Erebus after losing a full time seat for the first time.

The South Australian stepped in as Brodie Kostecki’s substitute at the Bathurst 500 and Melbourne SuperSprint events and emerged ninth in the points after recording three top 10 finishes and a best result of sixth.

But now after the bombshell announcement Kostecki will be making a comeback at the upcoming Taupo Super400, Hazelwood will step down from the #99 as it becomes the #1.

Hazelwood said he is “glad” to see Kostecki return, but the first two sprint rounds have only further fuelled his determination to perform at the enduros later this year.

“It’s been an awesome two rounds racing for Erebus Motorsport, but it’s time for BK to step in for NZ,” Hazelwood wrote on social media.

“Glad to see Brodie Kostecki is fit and ready to go again and I’ll be back with the team for the Enduro season later this year for some unfinished business.”

This weekend Hazelwood’s immediate focus will be Trans Am for the third round of the season at Phillip Island.

After two podiums and four top four results at Symmons Plains, Hazelwood wants to give it a “red hot crack” this weekend.
