Three 21-lap races of Bathurst will complete the TCR Australia Series in 2021.

Dubbed the ‘TCR 400’, the three-race points scoring round will be held as part of the Bathurst International this November.

The races will be the longest in the history of TCR Australia, which was born in 2019

For the first time, TCR Australia will adopt a reverse-grid format for Race 2 of the event, taking the top 10 qualifying positions for Race 1 and flipping them.

A more conventional system will decide starting positions for Race 3, points accumulation from races 1 and 2 setting the grid.

CEO of Australian Racing Group Matt Braid embraced the significance of TCR holding their season finale at the legendary 6.213km circuit.

“Mount Panorama is synonymous with touring car endurance racing, and it’s exciting that TCR Australia will be able to hold our own unique, longer form race format at Bathurst,” Braid said.

“The TCR Bathurst 400 will be a headline attraction of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International. The longer three races will give our competitors great value and offer a great spectacle for fans at the track and at home watching live and free.

“The move to make the TCR Bathurst 400 a series round will ensure that TCR Australia’s appearance at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International will be one of the true highlights on a weekend showcasing racing cars and categories with a global flavour.”

November will be a big month for motor sport in Australia as Mount Panorama is set to host categories such as S5000, GT World Challenge Australia and Touring Car Masters.

In addition, a 16-lap Trans Am Bathurst 100 finale will conclude the new Mount Panorama Trans Am event.

The Australian Production Car Series and Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge will also race in the inaugural Bathurst International event.

Before the Bathurst 400, TCR Australia heads to Sandown International Raceway from September 17-19 and The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia from October 15-17.

Walkinshaw Andretti United Supercars driver Chaz Mostert currently leads the 2021 TCR Australia standings on 452 points, ahead of Luke King.

Rounds have already been completed in Launceston, Phillip Island, Bathurst and Sydney after the 2020 series was abandoned due to COVID-19.

The Phillip Island round was postponed to March from its original February 18-21 dates because of a snap lockdown in Melbourne.
