AUTO ACTION has also learned that in addition to this weekend’s season-opening Mount Panorama 500 and October’s Bathurst 1000, Seven will screen live coverage of the Darwin, Townsville, Sydney SuperNight and Gold Coast rounds.

They will all be telecast on the network’s primary Channel 7, which attracts the biggest FTA audiences.

Seven’s six main events will also be streamed live on 7+.

Coverage of the Mount Panorama 500 will be on 7 (Channel 70 in HD) from midday to 5pm AEDT on Saturday and Sunday.

Seven will also show the June 19-20 Darwin Triple Crown, July 10-11 Townsville 500, August 21-22 Sydney SuperNight, October 8-10 Bathurst 1000 and season-ending December 4-5 Gold Coast 500.

A high-level Seven Network source confirmed to AA that they will all be shown on the flagship Channel 7 rather than a secondary digital TV channel like 7mate, plus the 7+ streaming service.

The only variation will be in WA, where because of the time difference, the first hour of the live events will be on 7mate.

Seven will show the main track action on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, except for the Bathurst 1000, when there will be Friday coverage as well.

There will also be prime time coverage of the Sydney SuperNight’s Saturday night race.

Channel 7 – and regional affiliate Prime – will simulcast coverage with Fox Sports, sharing commentators and pit reporters.

Seven will add its own presenters and reporters to the six events it shows live.

Screening its roster of live Supercars events on Channel 7 is a big vote of confidence in V8 racing’s drawing power.

The delayed highlights of the other scheduled six events are expected to be on 7mate, as well as 7+.

Seven is back as the home free TV home of Supercars after six years away. It was the primary broadcaster from 2007-2014, and the main telecaster from the 1970s to the late ‘90s.

Ten Network filled the gaps, excelling from 1997-2006, but underwhelming from 2015-20.

Seven is again the free TV home of Australian motor racing, also showing ARG’s TCR and S5000 events.

Seven West Media boss James Warburton, the former CEO of Supercars, and Seven Network head of sport Lewis Martin are due to be at Bathurst this weekend.
