Supercars has responded to claims from Boost Mobile boss Peter Adderton that the telecommunications company has been banned from sponsoring anything to do with the championship.

The outspoken boss of the Boost Mobile Australia has taken to Instagram to vent his frustration at Supercars and Sean Seamer.
Adderton claims that a deal was made for Boost Mobile to take over from rival company Vodafone as a major Supercars Championship backer, however Adderton has heard that due to his outspoken nature the agreement has not been signed on the dotted line.
A Supercars spokesperson released a statement when approached by Auto Action saying that these claims are simply false.
“Supercars can confirm that it has not banned or blocked Boost from sponsorship of the sport and reiterates that Boost is free to do whatever it would like (pending agreement from all parties) regarding sponsorship of Supercars teams,” the statement read.
“Supercars is still in discussions with possible Telecommunications partners for the 2021 season.
Boost Mobile was a sponsor on the #44 James Courtney driven Ford Mustang for a majority of the 2020 Supercars Championship season.
The Telecommunications company is also a sponsor of young up-and-comer Broc Feeney in the Super2 Series, as well as being the naming rights sponsor of the Australian Stadium Super Truck Series.
“So, we were told @boostaus has been banned from sponsoring anything to do with @repcosupercars because Sean Seamer and the board doesn’t like my open and honest approach,” Adderton said on Instagram.
“I have always conducted myself with open and honest approach in every aspect of my personal and professional life and have encouraged people who disagree with me on forums to also continue to challenge me.
“I would never not do business with someone just because I don’t agree with them or they are critical of me.
Adderton continued saying that he understands that the Boost Mobile Australia brand is no longer welcome in the sport.
“We get it Sean and the Commission we are not wanted and we accept that and will move on, we are big boys, but your short-sighted approach will only hurt the one’s you are supposed to be fighting for, the young drivers,” he said.
In a separate post several hours later, Adderton elaborated on the situation, stating that he has been told Seamer does not want to support Boost Mobile Australia.
“We were then told last night by the commercial manager that his directive from the CEO was that even if we offered a million more Sean would not take our money due to my criticism of him and Supercars,” he said.
“That he would rather have no telco sponsorship than take Boosts money, those who know sponsorship know activation at events is key for sponsors being the official telco gave us better value for our team sponsorship and young driver’s we support.
“Sean has not once picked up the phone to call me!”

It originated from the Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC), which held its first race in 1960 at Gnoo-Blas in Orange, New South Wales. The ATCC evolved over the years, and in 1997, it was rebranded as the V8 Supercars Championship, eventually becoming the Supercars Championship we know today.
Some of the leading drivers in the history of the Supercars Championship include Peter Brock, who is often referred to as the "King of the Mountain" for his nine victories at the Bathurst 1000, a race that is considered one of the biggest in the series. Other notable drivers include Dick Johnson, Marcos Ambrose, Craig Lowndes, Shane van Gisbergen, Jamie Whincup, who holds the record for the most championship titles, and Mark Skaife, who has also been a dominant force in the series.
The Bathurst 1000, held at Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, is arguably the most famous race in the Supercars calendar. Other significant races include the Sandown 500 and the Adelaide 500, which are known for their challenging circuits and thrilling competitions.
