It will mark the third straight year that the South Australian convenience retailer OTR will sponsor a Supercars Championship event at the venue.

Yesterday it was confirmed that the Supercars Championship would return to The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia for two rounds ahead of the season finale at Bathurst.

The Tailem Bend venue will host back-to-back rounds of Supercars action, although it is unknown which of the events will be sponsored by OTR.

The Bend Motorsport Park was the brainchild of proud South Australian Sam Shahin. OTR owns 150 petrol and convenience stores across metropolitan and regional South Australia stores which were founded by Fred Shahin, who also created the larger parent company Peregrine Corporation.

Despite falling off the 2020 Supercars Championship twice this year The Bend Motorsport Park, around an hour south of Adelaide is set to host Australia’s premier motorsport category for a third straight year.

It has been confirmed that OTR will be the only local SA business to act as naming rights partner to the events at Tailem Bend.

OTR CEO Warren Wilmot is proud that the company is supporting the Supercars Championship and the local event once more following the COVID-19 pandemic.

“OTR is committed to helping the state to get going again, to bringing people back together safely and returning to doing the things we love – and South Australians love their motor racing,” said Mr Wilmot.

“We know South Australians will get behind these races and as a proud SA business, OTR is delighted to continue getting behind South Australia and bringing important events to the local community.

“We’re also hopeful that with OTR’s support, these events will further demonstrate the state’s capacity for major event management, and this will help attract other events – even the AFL Grand Final.”

The events will take place in just a few weeks’ time with the first event from September 19-20 and the following round on September 26-27, tickets are expected to go on sale in coming days.
