On the eve of the first season of Australian GT under the management of Trofeo Motorsport, long time category manager Ken Collier has dropped a bombshell by announcing his resignation from the role.

After seven years in the position, Collier’s last event with the category will be next weekend’s Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix.

Auto Action believes the direction and style of the category under the new ownership was one of the reasons for Collier’s resignation.

Collier sent the following statement to competitors of the series tonight.

“I am writing to you from my personal email account to advise you that I have decided to step out of the AGT Championship Manager role after round 1 of 2019.”

“You will understand that this has been a difficult decision for me to make.  AGT has been an all encompassing part of not only my life, but also for Margaret since we became involved in early 2012.”

“Both Margret and I have been fortunate to have found genuine friends through AGT.  We have really enjoyed our interactions with all of the people in the AGT family.”

“If I do not get to see you during the Australian Grand Prix next week I certainly hope to catch up soon so that I can thank you personally for being a part of AGT whilst Margaret and I have been involved.”

Last year Jim Manolios’s Trofeo Motorsport purchased Australian GT off Tony Quinn, with the opening round at the Australian Grand Prix the commencement of the first full season under its new management.
