BMWs battle for Bathurst 6 Hour glory

By Thomas Miles

With less than two hours to go, the fight for the 2024 Bathurst 6 Hour appears to be between two BMWs fighting nose to tail.

After 80 laps and four hours of racing, Cameron Crick is leading reigning winner Jayden Ojeda by 2.5s.

However, it is actually the #1 of Ojeda, Simon Hodges and George Miedecke in the box seat as they chase back to back wins.

The challenge of Crick and Dean Campbell in the #118 has been hit by a 15s penalty for passing under Safety Car.

Despite a third of the race still to be completed, the battling BMWs were fighting like it was the last lap.

Ojeda did have track position approaching the end of the fourth hour and covered Crick to the edge of the inside fence on approach to Hell Corner to defend it at the start of lap 78.

Crick was finally able to get by around the outside at The Chase, showing the intensity is starting to rise with the chequered flag now approaching. It was the 11th lead change of the day.

They have a 5s gap over Will Davison in car #23 and Thomas Randle in the Race For A Cure #92.

The leading A2 car is the Ford Mustang go Grant Denyer with a 10s advantage.

The top A1 car is the #222 with Cem Yucel behind the wheel. Darcey Inwood leads a chain of B1 cars from 16th onwards followed by the class C and D leaders of Pieter Faulkner and Mitch Wooller respectively.

Whilst a penalty hangs over the #118 it is well and truely in the mix with little separating the leading BMWs as an exciting finish of the 2024 Bathurst 6 Hour lies ahead.

The race is currently live on SBS Viceland and Fox Sports/Kayo.
