TCR AUSTRALIA SECURES TV DEAL

TCR Australia has announced that it has secured live, free-to-air television broadcast coverage for its inaugural season on SBS.
The broadcast will be delivered to fans in high definition on its primary channel and will feature live coverage of both Saturday and Sunday races at every Shannons Nationals rounds in 2019.
Series organisers, Australian Racing Group confirmed landmark deal has been negotiated in conjunction with CAMS, offering fans live and free coverage of all seven TCR Australia rounds both on free-to-air television and SBS’s digital platforms.
“The Australian Racing Group, in conjunction with CAMS, is very pleased to announce our partnership with SBS to broadcast the 2019 TCR Australia Series,” said Matt Braid, Director, Australian Racing Group.
“Every TCR race in each of the seven Shannons Nationals rounds will be shown live and in high definition on SBS, making it the best free to air coverage of any motorsport category in Australia.”
“We have worked hard to confirm the best possible coverage for the inaugural TCR Australia Series for our competitors, and particularly for Australian motorsport fans, and we are extremely pleased to be partnering with SBS who have a great heritage in broadcasting high quality, local and international motorsport.”
SBS is no stranger to coverage of Australian motorsport, including its long-standing ‘Speedweek’ program.
“The TCR Australia Touring Car Series has a substantial and passionate following in Australia. It’s great news that live motorsport is returning to our screens at SBS,” said Ken Shipp, Head of Sport, SBS.
“I have no doubt the upcoming season will bring with it some exciting wheel-to-wheel moments and superb on-track entertainment which will be available free-to-air to all Australians.”
There are currently five eligible TCR Series manufacturers confirmed for this year. HMO Customer Racing recently took delivery of its third Hyundai i30 N, while Honda, Audi, Volkswagen and Alfa Romeo will also be represented. The latter will see Bathurst 1000 winning team Garry Rogers Motorsport take delivery of two Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloces.
The opening round of the TCR Australia will be held at Sydney Motorsport Park on May 17-19.
