Matt Campbell is set to race in at the Le Mans 24 Hour after being listed on the official entry list for the 2018/19 FIA World Endurance Championship Super Season.

The young Australian has been named along with Italian Matteo Cairoli as one of the drivers of the two Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche 911 RSR’s entered in the LMGTE Am class, on the entry list revealed overnight.

Late last year it was confirmed Campbell would continue as part of the expanding Porsche Motorsport Junior Programme as a Porsche Young Professional. However, his program had not officially confirmed, only hinting that he could potentially race at WEC and IMSA events in 2018.

Campbell’s WEC program with Dempsey-Proton Racing is expected to include the Total 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (5 May), 24 Hours of Le Mans 2018 (16-17 June), 6 Hours of Silverstone (19 August), 6 Hours of Fuji (14 October), 6 Hours of Shanghai (18 November) in 2018.  While the remainder of the super-season will continue in 2019 with the 1500 Miles of Sebring (16/17 March 2019) before a second running of the Total 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (4 May 2019) and the 24 Hours of Le Mans (15-16 June 2019).

Series organisers moved the Fuji round of the championship to avoid a date clash with the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, allowing new Toyota signing Fernando Alonso to compete at both events.

The Fuji round was originally scheduled for October 12-14, but was moved to avoid an unpopular clash with the Petit Le Mans IMSA finale on the same weekend. However, has now reverted back to it’s originally scheduled date.

The overnight announcement also confirmed that eight privateer LMP1 cars would race against Toyota in the outright competition with 36 entries across the four classes.
