MATT CAMPBELL PROMOTED TO INTERNATIONAL GT COMPETITION

Matt Campbell has received a significant promotion within the expanding Porsche Motorsport Junior Programme, which will see the 22-year-old Australian become a Porsche Young Professional in 2018.

Campbell will therefore move away from the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in 2018 towards international GT competition. While Campbell’s exact racing programme is yet to be announced, Porsche’s Young Professional drivers contested several series in 2017, including the FIA World Endurance Championship, Pirelli World Challenge and IMSA SportsCar Championship.

Campbell and Norway’s Dennis Olsen will join current Porsche Young Professionals Matteo Cairoli from Italy and Frenchman Mathieu Jaminet in the top tier of the Junior Programme.

“I’m really looking forward to taking my career to the next step, moving from Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup into international GT racing as a Porsche Young Professional,” said Campbell.

“I’m really looking forward to next season. It will provide a tremendous opportunity for me and I couldn’t be happier to remain with Porsche in such a role.

“Porsche has provided amazing support thus far, from winning Carrera Cup Australia and the Junior Programme Shootout last year to racing in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and now, my progression to a Porsche Young Professional. I am extremely grateful and want to repay the faith of my supporters and Porsche.”

Campbell finished third in the overall Porsche Supercup standings in his debut year as part of the Porsche Junior Programme.
