In preparation for this weekend’s Sydney Supersprint, Toyota 86 Series leader Jimmy Vernon has had the experience of a lifetime. Vernon lined his Aisin Racing Toyota 86 up for a stunt with Red Bull Air Race Pilot Matt Hall, racing down the air strip at over 140km/h less than a metre from Hall’s wing.

“What a rush!” said Vernon. “I could see just out of the corner of my eye, the wing of the plane as I pulled gears down the straight. I could see the look on Matt’s face when I glanced over!”

After the spectacular stunt, Vernon jumped in the stunt plan for a run with Hall. Taking off over Lake Macquarie, NSW, the young driver experienced some of Hall’s impressive stunts and a simulated run of the Red Bull Air Race circuit.

“I can’t thank Massel enough for the opportunity to ride with Matt Hall. We managed to pull 8gsm as we darted around!” Exclaimed Vernon, “The way Matt controls his plane is very impressive and something I won’t forget anytime soon. The plane is so nimble, I couldn’t stop smiling – plus I didn’t pass out!” Finished Vernon.
