DRAG RACER KILLED IN TRAGIC CRASH

Auto Action reports the sad news that popular and well respected drag racer Chris Stewart was killed while competing at the ANDRA Summit Sportsman Series round at Portland in south western Victoria.

The 47-year-old Adelaide resident, Stewart was racing a 1968 Camaro in the Supercharged Outlaws category.

It is reported that his car lost control and impacted with both walls before leaving the track.

Auto Action passes on our sincere condolences to the Stewart family, his crew, friends and the wider drag racing community.

ANDRA STATEMENT REGARDING PORTLAND INCIDENT
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of ANDRA drag racer Chris Stewart.

Chris Stewart, a second-generation racer was competing at South Coast Raceway.

All remaining racing has been was cancelled for the weekend.

The Stewart family have requested privacy during this time and we ask that their wishes be respected.

On behalf of the Australian National Drag Racing Association we pass on our sincere condolences to the Stewart family, crew and friends.
