Brilliant Bathurst nets bumper TV ratings

Matt Payne on the podium

By Thomas Miles

The 2025 Bathurst 1000 was a smash hit on and off the track, with coverage reaching 5.515 million Australians.

These are the impressive viewing numbers of Sunday’s stunning Great Race, which gripped a nation as Matt Payne and Garth Tander overcame the rain and Camaros to get Ford back on top.

Across the entire race weekend, 4.315 million tuned in to Seven, while a further 1.2 million watched on Foxtel and Kayo.

On Bathurst Day itself, the total television audience averaged more than two million viewers nationally.

The race day figures were 1.544 million on free-to-air partner Seven and a further 459,000 on Foxtel.

Boosting Seven’s numbers was its streaming service 7plus, enjoying its biggest day outside of an Olympics and AFL Grand Final, averaging 211,000.

All of these numbers put a massive smile on Supercars CEO James Warburton.

“This is a phenomenal result and a clear sign of the incredible power and passion behind Bathurst,” he said.

“Year after year, the Great Race captures the nation, and this year’s record-breaking figures are proof that Supercars continues to be one of the biggest sporting moments on the Australian calendar.

“To deliver the biggest Bathurst audience since 2016, and the largest streaming and digital audience in our history, is an achievement we’re incredibly proud of. It’s a credit to our broadcast partners, our teams and drivers, and to our fans who make this event so special.”
