Bathurst week means ratings week, and our full field Bathurst 1000 driver and team ratings are out now in Auto Action Premium, in stores and on our digital platform. In this edition, we also revisit the archives with decade snapshots that chart the Mountain’s evolution, from Cortinas and Minis to modern Gen3 contenders, featuring the best race reports and images from our files.
Across the board, we grade pace, execution and race craft, then stack that against team form, pit stop discipline and Safety Car resilience. Here are the Top 5 from our full rankings.
The complete list with deeper analysis is in Auto Action Premium, in stores now.
1. Broc Feeney, Jamie Whincup, Triple Eight, Chevrolet
On paper the benchmark, Feeney’s sprint pace backed by Whincup’s Mountain IQ points to control during long green runs, minimise risk and make the rest chase.
2. Cameron Waters, Mark Winterbottom, Tickford, Ford
Big race temperament meets muscle memory, Waters brings the edge and Winterbottom brings Bathurst calm, keep the Mustang balanced and the lane clean late and they are right in the frame.
3. Matthew Payne, Garth Tander, Grove Racing, Ford
Payne’s speed plus Tander’s Bathurst nous, Grove’s strategy polish has delivered all year, even if outright pace is a touch shy they have a clear path to the box.
4. Brodie Kostecki, Todd Hazelwood, Dick Johnson Racing, Ford
Bathurst winning chemistry in fresh colours, Kostecki brings the hammer, Hazelwood is tidy and fast, protect track position after the final stop and repeat talk gets real.
5. Chaz Mostert, Fabian Coulthard, Walkinshaw Andretti United, Ford
Mostert is a menace across the top, Coulthard is silk in traffic, keep it straight for 130 laps and WAU’s pit craft can turn the opportunity into a podium raid.

'description' => 'The Supercars Championship, currently known as the Repco Supercars Championship, is the premier motorsport category in Australasia and one of Australia\'s biggest sports. It originated from the Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC), which held its first race in 1960 at Gnoo-Blas in Orange, New South Wales. The ATCC evolved over the years, and in 1997, it was rebranded as the V8 Supercars Championship, eventually becoming the Supercars Championship we know today.
Some of the leading drivers in the history of the Supercars Championship include Peter Brock, who is often referred to as the "King of the Mountain" for his nine victories at the Bathurst 1000, a race that is considered one of the biggest in the series. Other notable drivers include Dick Johnson, Marcos Ambrose, Craig Lowndes, Shane van Gisbergen, Jamie Whincup, who holds the record for the most championship titles, and Mark Skaife, who has also been a dominant force in the series.
The Bathurst 1000, held at Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, is arguably the most famous race in the Supercars calendar. Other significant races include the Sandown 500 and the Adelaide 500, which are known for their challenging circuits and thrilling competitions.
