Shane van Gisbergen is looking forward to taking on a track he “really likes” in Kansas Speedway this weekend.

The NASCAR Cup Series roadshow heads to Kansas this weekend for the Hollywood Casino 400, the penultimate race of the Round of 12 Playoff stage.

Van Gisbergen is racing without pressure as he aims to carry on his progression on ovals, having seen a breakthrough top 10 snatched away in heartbreaking fashion last weekend at New Hamptonshire.

He will be looking to make another impact at the high-speed Kansas, where he finished 20th earlier in the year as he returns to the Red Bull livery.

The Trackhouse Racing Kiwi has made it clear he enjoys the 48,000 tri-oval and hopes to make another statement.

“I really like Kansas (Speedway), you can run all over the track and try to find grip and speed,” van Gisbergen said.

“We did decent there at the beginning of the year, so hopefully we can capitalise on some things that we learned and get an even been result this time around.

“It should be a bit of fun this weekend!”

Reflecting on the season as a whole, van Gisbergen thinks he is taking strides forward on the unfamiliar ovals.

“I think it’s been awesome! SVG said.

“To win the number of races that we have and then to show the improvement we have made over the last few months.

“We didn’t have a great start to the season, and it’s been a steady progression.

“I think we can be proud of that and know that we didn’t expect to set the world on fire on the ovals, but I think we have done pretty well this season getting better and better.”

The Hollywood Casino 301 starts at 5.00 AEST Monday, September 29.
