Golding announces PremiAir departure

James Golding has taken to social media to reveal he will be leaving PremiAir Racing at the end of 2025.
Golding has helped the team rise from tricky beginnings to poles and podiums, but after three and a half years, the pair will move on.
The 29-year-old has been linked to the vacancy at Blanchard Racing Team left by the retiring James Courtney.
Golding has been the biggest constant at the team in recent years, having been parachuted in halfway through the squad’s debut season.
Following the sudden departure of Garry Jacobson, Golding jumped into the team in PremiAir’s seventh round at Townsville.
This brought Golding back into the top tier after three years away and he has been PremiAir’s leading driver in each full season.
The 2024 campaign was a breakout for both team and driver as they achieved their first pole and podium together at Darwin and Sandown, respectively.
But after falling from seventh to 16th in 2025 so far, Golding is looking for a new chapter.
“Big news. I’ll be finishing up with PremiAir Racing at the end of the 2025 Supercars season,” Golding wrote.
“The past few years have been huge for me, from getting back on the grid in 2022, to grabbing pole position in Darwin and a podium at Sandown last year.
“I want to thank everyone at PremiAir Racing and all the sponsors for the support. We’ve made some great memories together.
“It wasn’t an easy call, but I feel it’s the right time to take the next step in my career.
“For now, my focus is 100% on finishing this season strong and delivering the best results I can.”
With Richie Stanaway joining the team in 2025, PremiAir as a whole has taken a step back with bad luck and a lack of pace, seeing them feature less in the top 10.
“The word I’d use is a little disappointed,” PremiAir boss Peter Xiberras said at The Bend.
“I think for the effort we’ve put in, we’ve underperformed to this point. We’ve just got to work a bit harder, and find a bit more.
“Just results. Either everyone has improved a lot more than what we have; it’s hard to put your finger on the problem.”
