Brilliant Buckley and Golding split TA2 poles

Alice Buckley leads Jarrod Hughes

By Thomas Miles

Alice Buckley and James Golding topped their respective qualifying sessions as attention turns to racing in the TA2 Tag Team Enduro.

In a bumper Hi-Tec Oils Super Series weekend at Queensland Raceway, the TA2s are headlining with plenty of Supercars stars on show in a six-race showpiece.

Once again, Buckley showcased her brilliance, carrying on the momentum by taking pole amongst the regular drivers.

On a high from her winning debut at the same circuit last month, she achieved her latest high in the #150 Chevrolet Racing Camaro by taking pole.

Buckley’s 1:11.9860 was well clear of everyone, being the only 1m11s time across the two sessions.

She topped her session by a huge four-tenths over championship-leading teammate Jarrod Hughes in an all Chevrolet front row.

Hughes is still suffering from his shoulder injury sustained in the big Super2 crash last weekend, but he would still be happy with the front-row start.

He held off the leading Mustang Lachlan Evennett, plus Tom Davies and Ben Gomersall.

The co-driver’s session featured many of the big names where Trans Am regular Golding was a cut above the rest.

In the #8 Mustang he shares with Evennett, Golding recorded a 1:12.184.

This was just a tenth clear of Trans Am championship leader Todd Hazelwood, while Tim Slade ensured Buckley’s #150 claimed two top three spots.

Nathan Herne held off Brodie Kostecki to complete the rest of the top five, while Craig Lowndes was 14th.

The first sprint is at 10.00 before another one at 13.10 and the enduro at 16.00 AEST on Fox and SBS.
