For the first time ever, the bp Adelaide Grand Final will host a Friday race and drivers have a new big reason to go for glory.

In addition to being the first race of the thrilling four-way winner-takes-all title fight, a $50,000 prize is on offer for the winner Friday’s 100km opener.

The award is on offer thanks to a partnership between Mega Rewards and the South Australian Motor Sport Board (SAMSB).

It is the latest reason why the bp Adelaide Grand Final promises to be must-see viewing.

Despite Broc Feeney’s current domination, the winner of the Adelaide finale will be the Supercars champion in a winner-takes-all Grand Final showdown.

In addition to the thrilling format, the event promises so much with sprintcars returning, AC/DC rocking out at night, and so much more, it will be must-see viewing.

Now prize money will further intice drivers as it is a rare thing seen in modern Supercars.

Mark Warren, CEO of the South Australian Motor Sport Board, said the initiative forms part of the Board’s commitment to creating the best motorsport event in the country.

“This initiative from Mega Rewards means Friday’s race could deliver any possible outcome,” Warren said.

“By putting real money on the line, we’re giving drivers a major incentive to come out swinging from the very first race – and giving fans another reason to be in the stands from day one.

“Our thanks go to Mega Rewards for supporting this bold new initiative for the bp Adelaide Grand Final.”

Supercars CEO James Warburton feels it will further grow the event.

“This is a great addition to the Friday of our epic Grand Final for the Championship. In an already high stakes weekend, this will add extra incentive for Friday’s race,” he said.

“We have great partners with the South Australian Government and the South Australian Motor Sport Board and thank them and their partners for this great initiative.”
