Miedecke reunites with Ambrose

Marcos Ambrose and George Miedecke at Bathurst

By Thomas Miles

George Miedecke will revive his connection with Marcos Ambrose by joining Josh Webster for the TA2 Tag Team Enduro.

This sees Miedecke race for Marcos Ambrose Motorsport at the Queensland Raceway event scheduled for August 15-17.

The drive rekindles a strong partnership between two famous names of Australian motorsport.

Former TA2 and Trans Am front-runner Miedecke is currently a star of the GT4 Australia scene in his Mustang.

But back in 2010, Ambrose, who was then in the middle of his successful stint in NASCAR, secured Miedecke a drive with JTG Daugherty.

Then a year later, Miedecke was a key figure in the birth of Marcos Ambrose Motorsport, headlining its Junior Development Program.

Now in 2025, the latest chapter unfolds with Miedecke set to share a Mustang with Webster at Queensland Raceway.

The new drive has been in the works since the Bathurst 6 Hour earlier in the year.

“I’ve had a long-standing connection with Marcos Ambrose, dating back to when he first spotted me racing in the V8 Utes back in 2009,” Miedecke said.

“I had a really successful year driving for him in the U.S, so it’s pretty special to be rekindling that relationship now and continuing our journey together.

“I was at the Bathurst 6 Hour earlier this year catching up with Marcos, and he floated the idea.

“He then introduced me to the Webster’s, who are all great people, and it all came together from there.”

Miedecke will form a strong combination with Webster, who has already impressed and currently sits fifth in the TA2 standings.

“I’m really looking forward to the weekend. George is an incredibly capable driver, you only have to look at what he’s achieved in the GT4 Mustang,” Webster said.

“I’m keen to learn from his experience and work closely with both he and Marcos as a team.

“We’ve had a tough run over the past few rounds with a bit of bad luck, so we’re hoping to turn things around at Queensland Raceway.

“The goal is to get back on track, move forward to where we know we can be, and bank some much-needed points.”
