WAU locks in enduro lineup

By Thomas Miles

WAU has confirmed the make-up of its 2025 Supercars Enduro Cup lineup, and it sees another swap.

For 2025 Lee Holdsowrth has been replaced by Jayden Ojeda, but he will not jump into the #25 alongside Chaz Mostert.

Instead, Ryan Wood’s 2024 partner, Fabian Coulthard, will return to the #25 for the first time since 2022 where they finished the Great Race second.

This means Wood will have a second co-driver in as many years with Ojeda suiting up alongside him to put a pair of young guns in the #2 Mustang.

It is a reunion on all sides of the WAU garage with Ojeda making six wildcard starts with WAU in 2022 across the Winton and Hidden Valley rounds.

Since then he has had two Bathurst campaigns with MSR and showed speed alongside Jack Le Brocq at Erebus last year to lock in back to back top 10s.

“It’s great to be back with the Walkinshaw Andretti United family, it’s been a couple years since I’ve been with the Team, although they have made me feel like I am at home, it doesn’t feel like I ever left,” he said.

“Ryan has shown he isn’t here to play around this year, the momentum he and the team are building is really exciting, I’m looking forward to pairing up with him this season.

“With the new format, the pressure is on us co-drivers to help the main-drivers stay or get into the Top 10 for the finals, it’s more important than ever that we get up to speed quickly and keep it clean out on the track.”

Having raced full time for Walkinshaw in 2010 and 2011 in addition to what will become four straight enduro campaigns, Coulthard feels settled at WAU.

“It’s a bit of a reunion being paired up with Chaz again this endurance season, the last time we were paired together we placed 2nd at the Bathurst 1000, although the goal will be one step higher this year,” the Kiwi said.

“When you get to go racing with your mates it doesn’t feel like work, race weekends with the WAU crew are always fun, but when the visor goes down it’s full focus to get the job done.

“I’ve spent a bit of time in the car this year for ride days with the crew, the team have done a great job building on last year’s car, I’m looking forward to getting a couple more laps in before the Bend and Bathurst.”

WAU Team Principal Carl Faux believes both pairings will “gel” before the Bend with a test dat at Queensland Raceway two days after the Ipswich Super440.

“We are thrilled to announce our strong co-driver line up this season, welcoming back Jayden to the team and the return of Fabian for the fourth year consecutively, the calibre of both drivers puts us in a strong position for endurance season,” he said.

“Jayden and Fabian gel very well with the team. They have spent a considerable amount of time with the crew this year, ensuring they are fully prepared to put their best foot forward when we get to The Bend and Bathurst.

“With the revised format this year, having top-tier co-drivers is vital in helping Chaz and Ryan secure their positions in the top 10 for the finals series. We are confident that Jayden and Fabian are more than capable of rising to the challenge.”
