Famous name gives Love another racing shot

Aaron Love will race at a Supercars event for the first time since being dropped and the opportunity has sprung up in Trans Am where he will race for a famous name.
It will be a continuation of Love’s comeback to racing since being dropped by BRT following the Sydney Supercars opener.
He raced a Ferrari in a GT World Challenge Australia round at SMP, and this time he will get a taste of a Marcos Ambrose Motorsport Chevrolet Camaro.
Love has already enjoyed a test day and is excited by the new challenge.
“I chose to race in Trans Am because it’s exciting, different, and something I know I’ll need to adapt too,” he said.
“At this point in my career, I just want to get back on track in an environment I’ll enjoy, one where I can perform, keep learning, and continue building my driver profile.
“I had the chance to do a test day at Winton a couple of weeks ago, which was really valuable.
“Elliot Barbour came out to help me get a better feel for the car and understand how to get the most out of it. It’s a highly competitive series, so being comfortable in the car is key.
“I really enjoy driving these cars—there are similarities to a current Supercar, but the Trans Am is also quite unique, especially with the big Hoosier tyres the category runs.”
Love’s former boss, Tim Blanchard will also take on Trans Am for the first time.
Since hanging up the co-driver’s helmet at the end of 2022, Blanchard has focused on running his BRT squad, but now he will be back behind the wheel.
“Since stepping away from full-time Supercars racing, I’ve been looking for the right opportunity to get back behind the wheel but I wanted something competitive, enjoyable, as well as being cost-effective and Trans Am really stood out as the perfect fit,” he said.
“This weekend is very much a learning experience for me. It’s a great opportunity to get a feel for the category, especially with it running alongside a Supercars event. We’ll see how things unfold, and I’m really looking forward to getting out there.”
A solid 27-car field will be racing in the third round of the Trans Am season, with reigning champion Todd Hazelwood already 79 points clear of Nathan Herne.
The pair will be tough to beat again, especially with the nearest rival James Golding not taking part due to a clash with Supercars, and Elliott Cleary will take his GRM drive up.
Three Trans Am races are on the schedule alongside the Supercars at this weekend’s Darwin Triple Crown.
