Multispares Racing wins on GT4 debut, Audi hits back at Ferrari

Hansford Cameron GT4

By Thomas Miles

Multispares Racing has won on its GT4 Australia debut thanks to Aaron Cameron and Ryan Hansford, while the #888 Audi emerged clear of some GT chaos at Queensland Raceway.

Mutlispares Racing arrived at Queensland Raceway with plenty of experience from Touring Car Masters, but a new challenge awaited with a new Ford Mustang.

But Supercars driver Cameron and TCM champion Hansford have driven the new car to glory in their very first attempt.

They held on in the 60-minute race by just a second, edging clear of a pair of Method Motorsport McLarens.

Leading the train was Nathan Morcom and Loclan Hennock, who just fell short of a maiden win in 2025, while Silver Cup championship leaders Tom Hayman and Max Geoghegan.

It was an impressive comeback effort from the Multispares Racing crew as they started from outside the top five, but shot to the lead by Lap 8.

After the round of stops, they emerged in the lead and held off the Method Motorsport teammates, with Morcom/Hennock forced to settle for second after leading the first seven laps.

Having topped Q1 by just 0.07s over Jarrod Hughes, Blake Purdie hoped to contend, but did not record a lap.

It was a dramatic race with three Safety Car periods interrupting proceedings on a weekend where the weather played a big factor.

In addition to the overall, Cameron/Hansford also dominated Silver Am.

This left the Method Motorsport teammates to tussle for Silver Cup as the team’s other entry, Shane Smollen single-handedly won Am.

In GT World Challenge Australia, Broc Feeney and Brad Schumacher returned to victory lane.

Having also won at Phillip Island, the pair in the #888 Audi controlled a chaotic race from pole position.

Schumacher/Feeney ended up 11s clear over Jayden Ojeda and Paul Lucchitti.

Meanwhile, Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte, who were in distant third place, protected their championship lead.

Aaron Love, on his racing return, completed the top five in the Arise Racing Ferrari.

The Safety Car was required instantly after the silver NZ Audi of Tim Miles and Brendon Leitch were taken out just metres after the start line.

As the #888 Audi shot clear from pole position, the battle for second was anything but clean.

Miles was on the inside with Schutte and Sergio Pires on his outside.

However, the two Audis sandwiched the Ferrari, and the result saw both Audis spinning, with Miles taken out.

The GTs are back on track at the “Paperclip” tomorrow.
