Australian youngster Thomas Sargent has been handpicked as one of just three Porsche Select Driver Program North America members.

Sargent will now receive financial support from Porsche North America, plus coaching and mentoring from Porsche factory drivers.

The youngster from Young in country NSW made the move to America in 2023 where he joined McElrea Racing for a Porsche Carrera Cup North America campaign.

He immediately impressed by finishing second with nine podiums from 13 starts, highlighted by a win at Laguna Seca.

Last year he took on GT World Challenge America Pro Am with Kyle Washington which led to more success.

He has also made his IMSA debut with Wright Motorsports where he finished second on debut in GTD at Daytona.

All this comes after a fine apprenticeship in Australia where he won the 2021 Formula Ford title and overcame Ryan Wood in a fierce duel for the Porsche Sprint Challenge crown the following year.

Sargent is delighted with how things have played out.

“I can’t thank Kyle Washington for having faith in me to join his GT World Challenge America Program and now Wright Motorsport in joining their IMSA Endurance Program,” he said.

“To recently have my IMSA debut and a podium at an event like the Daytona 24 Hour Race was a very surreal experience.

“I am totally humbled that Porsche have chosen me as one of their Select Drivers, their support will be greatly appreciated, and I look forward to continuing to represent their brand with on track results.”
