Aussies across the classes at 12 Hours of Sebring

With the IMSA Sportscar Championship’s 12 Hours of Sebring creeping up on March 12, there’s a host of Aussies spread over the GTP, LMP2 and GTD classes, fresh from their podiums at the Daytona 24.
After the opening Daytona 24 round saw Aussie podiums spread across three of the four classes, the same contingent (minus James Allen) is again vying for the steps as the IMSA series stays in Florida for another round.
In the GTP Hypercar stakes, Matt Campbell will resume his full time campaign for the Penske Porsche squad in North America after taking one of the third Porsche 963 seats at the WEC Qatar 1812 km.
Whilst things didn’t go smoothly for Porsche in Qatar, the opening round Daytona 24 at IMSA saw Campbell score P3 alongside regular teammate Matthew Jaminet and third driver Kevin Estre.
Estre’s will again be taking the third driver role in the #6 963 in place of Felipe Nasr from last season 12 Hour where they finished in third position.

Campbell’s career back in North America for Penske started with a Daytona podium in the #963
After taking out a post-race P2 anger finishing third on track in the LMP2 Daytona stakes, Tassie driver returns in the #74 Riley ORECA 07 prototype.
Burdon has been a consistent performer for the Riley team as they finished second in the tile race last season.

Burdon has been a prominent part of the Riley LMP2 team across the last few seasons
Burdon, an LMP3 winner in the 2023 Sebring 12 Hour, shared the podium with overall class winner James Allen, who will be absent for this round from the United Autosports LMP2 machine.
Aussie born Kiwi and US citizen Hunter McElrea will also be in the LMP2 field again, with the former IndyCar driver having been in the back-to-back round winning team with TDS Racing in 2024 at Indianapolis and the Petit Le Mans.

Sargent made his Daytona 24 debut in the Wright Motorsports #120 Porsche
The plentiful GTD grid will also see a few Aussies representing, with Scott Andrews and Tommy Sargent having at it.
Sargent returns again to IMSA after he celebrated a sensational debut Daytona 24 podium in January in P2 with the Wright Motorsports team in the #120 Porsche 911 GT3 R (992).
Whilst Andrews also makes a return in the #80 Lone Star Racing Mercedes AMG after they spun out of contention at Daytona.
