Aussie Mansell to ‘step away’ from racing

Just over a week before the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, Aussie F2 racer Christian Mansell announced he will take a break from racing.
Mansell took to social media to announce he will take a sabbatical from racing “for a little while” stating “person reasons.”
The news arrives just eight days before the FIA Formula 2 Championship begins at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
“Hi everyone. Just to let you know for personal reasons I have decided to step away from racing for a little while. Will keep you updated as to future plans,” Mansell’s wrote on a social media statement.
The 2025 season was poised to be a big one in the career of Mansell as he was lined up for his first full-time crack at F2 with Rodin Motorsport.
The Newcastle raised 20-year-old had been impressively rising up the pathway to F1.
After finishing third in the 2022 Euroformula Open Championship, Mansell was rewarded with a taste of Formula 3 at the end of the year through four starts with Charouz Racing System.
This led to a full season in 2023 with Campos where he finished 12th and scored two podiums, but took a giant step forward in 2024.
Now driving for ART, the Aussie was a regular at the front of the field, scoring five podiums to secure a solid fifth in the championship.
In addition to the upturn in results, Mansell also got to race the final three rounds in F2 with Trident and scored points in half of his six starts.
With this experience under his belt, Mansell was primed to take a further step forward in F2 this year and many fans were set to cheer him on in Melbourne next weekend.
Mansell also took part in all sessions of the recent pre-season F2 test for Rodin, which has said they will share further details on their line-up soon.
As a result for the second time in a row there will not be an Australian on the F2 grid at Albert Park.
