The colours of F1 2025

The weapons all 10 teams will take into the Formula 1 season opener at Albert Park have been revealed at a special live event in London.
At a special season launch branded F175 Live, a sold out crowd at London’s O2 Arena got to see the 10 cars for the first time.
Sauber
Sauber was the first team to reveal its car and new-look driver line up of Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto.
The car retained its green and black look, but in a refined way with a green nose transitioning to a black engine cover.
Reigning F2 champion Bortoleto makes the step up with Sauber as an anticipated rookie, bringing a Brazilian back to the F1 grid.
At the other end of the experience spectrum is Hulkenberg, who returns to Sauber 12 years after his one off first appearance in 2013.
The German described 2025 as a “building year” for the team which will become Audi soon, but finished last in the constructors title in 2024.
“I think it’s in some ways a building year,” he highlighted.
“I think our target is to be competitive and to obviously score as many points as possible, but you always have to remember where we came from last year and so it’s a difficult starting point.
“We’ve, the team and us, been pushing over the winter, but right now we can obviously only speculate where we are, where everybody else is, but for us the motto is head down, just push hard, work hard and maximise everything on and off track and go for the opportunities when they come.
“It’s obviously a long road ahead, it’s the process that started now and behind the scenes obviously many things already, ongoing with respect to next year, which is, yeah, a big thing and exciting, especially for myself. Being German, with a German manufacturer and works team, so yeah, a lot of things to look forward to and, yeah, look forward to getting the season started soon.”
Williams
All eyes were on Carlos Sainz as he walked out in Williams colours for the first time with Alex Albon.
The FW47 has already broken cover at a track day at Silverstone on Friday and carries a similar blue livery to those seen in the last three years, but a different engine cover and heavily modified rear suspension.
Sainz said he has been amazed by how motivated the historic team is to return to success having not won since 2012 and not challenged for a title since 2003.
“I think the thing that I was most impressed about, if I’m honest with you, is just how motivated everyone was, even at the end of the year when we all know you went through a tough last few races, a lot of hard work here at the factory, a lot of hard work at the track to get the two cars to keep going after such a bad run of crashes,” Sainz explained.
Racing Bulls
Racing Bulls has turned heads by taking the covers off a redefined livery ahead of the 2025 season.
After spending its first season under the Racing Bulls name in blue, the team has turned white for 2025.
Interestingly for the first time since forming in 2006 the Red Bull junior team is running the Red Bull logos in the same colour as the top team.
Frenchman Isack Hadjar is the latest rookie to come through the Red Bull program after finishing second in F2.
After being overlooked by the top team, Yuki Tsunoda is suiting up for a fifth season at Racing Bulls and admits he is not too fazed by the omission.
“Last year’s things I’ve already kind of parked and put out of my head, to be honest. At the moment they officially announced it, I didn’t actually feel super angry or disappointed,” Tsunoda said.
“Maybe I was prepared inside my head at some point. In the end, whether I’m at Racing Bulls, VCARB or Red Bull, the things I have to do are the same.
“I’ve just got to stick to what I’m doing. I understand why they chose Liam. It is what it is – there are things I can’t control. I’ll just keep focused on myself and try to prove myself more.”
Haas
The 2025 season is a new era for Haas with a fresh driver line up led by Esteban Ocon and rookie Ollie Bearman.
It is a big change for Ocon, who heads to the American team from Alpine, while Ferrari academy driver Bearman is hoping to show more promise after impressive fill-in performances in 2024 for both Ferrari and Haas.
The 2025 car itself also reflects the change in the team, being slightly different with a lot more white on the car than previous years.
Ocon said it has been a big shift from Renault to Ferrari.
“There’s been a lot of different things coming in, a lot of different ways the Renault and Ferrari cars work differently,” he said.
“So, there’s been a lot of positives and I’ve been able to get around with things that I just feel super comfortable straight away and I’ve been able to work a little bit the same as I’ve been working the last five years.
“That took basically two months to get it done, which was super impressive.
“The whole steering wheel needed a complete redesign for the clutch paddles, for example.
“That was a big, big job and I had that in my hands last week, which was incredible.”
Alpine
The car Australia’s Jack Doohan will steer in his first full Formula 1 season has been revealed with Alpine showcasing a re energised look.
After making an unexpected debut at Abu Dhabi last year, Doohan is one of five rookies in 2025 and is the 16th Australian to start a Grand Prix.
Having finished a solid 15th on debut at Yas Marina, the 22-year-old is now ready for a big rookie campaign.
Doohan is joined by Pierre Gasly, who finished 10th and took a memorable podium at Sao Paulo.
Alpine has welcomed Doohan with its latest take on its pink livery, which has been switched with extra blue in 2025.
Speculation building up to Doohan’s home race has been focused on his Alpine future with Franco Colapinto being signed as a reserve driver.
However, the Aussie switched the focus, saying he is eager to “embrace the pressure” that creates.
“I think regardless, you’re one of 20 Formula 1 drivers in the world,” he said. “I know when I was in a go-kart, Formula 3, Formula 2… I would do anything to be in Formula 1 and sacrifice everything.
“Anyone that’s performing well is always going to have pressure on their shoulders because you’re in such a cutthroat sport. Whatever pressure there may be, I look forward to enjoying that, embracing that.”
Aston Martin
In true 007 style, Aston Martin has revealed its latest take on the iconic British racing green.
Aston Martin will race with its trademark look in 2025 with Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll.
The biggest change to the livery is the extra use of carbon fibre on the side pods.
Paying tribute to the famous brand, both Alonso and Stroll entered the O2 Arena in special style just like James Bond in The World Is Not Enough.
Mercedes
Mercedes has shown off the first glimpse of its post Lewis Hamilton era at the F175 event.
The colours George Russell and rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli will race with in 2025 are extremely similar to 2024.
However, more importantly Russell suggested the “Silver Arrows” have made some significant changes to last year’s car which was full of highs and lows with four wins, but without a constructors championship challenge.
“I think it’s going to be a significant change this year, to be honest,” Russell said.
“I think every year we’ve uncovered a problem, we’ve solved it and it’s created a new one, and we’ve probably been a lot more disciplined with every change that we’ve made.
“It took a good 18 months to solve the bouncing. Now we recognise we had a bit of a problem with the suspension, we changed the suspension, then that caused the balance problem. These things, it does just take time.
“I’m much more confident we’re not going to fall into a trap as in previous years.”
Red Bull
The first Red Bull F1 car that Kiwi Liam Lawson will race has been unveiled alongside four-time world champion Max Verstappen.
Whilst the trademark livery remains largely untouched aside from some extra red additions, all eyes will be on the RB21.
Although Verstappen enjoyed another untroubled journey to a fourth world title last year, Red Bull was not the fastest car on the grid for the first time since 2021.
And with no Adrian Newey, it will be interesting to see how the team responds from a mixed 2024.
Although the team played Rolling Stones hit Start Me Up, the crowd greeted Red Bull team principal Christian Horner with a mixed response.
Ahead of the season, Verstappen threw his support behind his new teammate Lawson.
“I’m sure it’s going to be fine – I’ve seen Liam grow throughout the junior team and he fully deserves his shot with the team,” Verstappen said.
“I’m excited to work together and have a great season again.”
Lawson believes it will be a tough Red Bull debut with only 11 starts under his belt.
“Going into a year like this, especially the start of the season, I’m going to a lot of tracks I haven’t done before,” the Kiwi said.
“It’s a new team and I have big expectations so it’s very exciting but I’m also expecting it to be the toughest year that I’ve come into.”
Ferrari
After months and even years of anticipation, the first Lewis Hamilton Ferrari has arrived.
The new SF-25 has been revealed and to mark Hamilton’s arrival, a new, classic paint scheme has been applied.
Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will race with a darker red, while extra white has been applied to the engine cover in addition to the traditional positions of front and rear wing.
Ferrari is hopeful of going all the way in 2025 after surging past Red Bull to snare second in the constructors championship last year, but its title drought still carries on dating back to 2008.
With the Hamilton and Ferrari deal being one of the most hyped driver signings ever, there was no doubt the biggest cheers of the F175 event were saved for the seven time world champion.
“It’s such a great night to be here amongst all of you,” Hamilton began.
“I think the word I’m thinking of is invigorated. I feel so full of life, and so much energy, because everything’s new. I’m just focused on what’s up ahead. I’m so proud to be a part of the team, something new and exciting for me.”
McLaren
Australia’s Oscar Piastri and McLaren will continue to race with the successful colours as they defend the constructors title in 2025.
After McLaren revealed the MCL39 at Silverstone, Piastri and Lando Norris showed off the 2025 livery for the first time in front of a packed 02Arena.
The scheme is close to identical to the livery that was used by McLaren when it took its first team title in 26 years in 2024.
But on the car itself the sidepod inlet, airbox, monocoque and cooling layout has been slightly redesigned.
At the F175 event, McLaren paid homage to its history, displaying championship winning cars driven by Emerson Fittipaldi, Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakkinen and Lewis Hamilton before revealing the MCL39.
After scoring two memorable wins at Hungary and Azerbaijan, Piastri said he wants to fight for the drivers title from the start.
“I am super excited for what we have in store,” Piastri said on stage.
Last year was a great result for the whole team and both of us as drivers but we want to take it to the next step up and fight from the beginning.”
Teammate Norris said McLaren now has “no excuses” as it chases both titles and finally starting a season with a strong car after a series of promising developments pushed the team from outside the top five to the top in both 2023 and 2024.
“After last year, we kind of have no excuses,” Norris said when asked if they will begin 2025 by fighting for both championships. “In the past we’ve had our fair share. I think this year we’ve got nothing left to hide behind.
“We proved last year that we’ve got everything we need and everything it takes to fight at the top and be the best. If we’re not at the beginning of the season then we’re just not good enough, but that’s certainly not how we’re thinking of things.
“When we do have a car that’s capable of fighting for wins and championships, we’re able to maximise it.”
Pre-season testing takes place on February 26-28, while the season starts in Australia for the first time since 2019 on March 14-16.
