DJR take the covers off 2025 Mustang

By Timothy Neal

DJR has revealed its livery for Brodie Kostecki and Will Davison for the upcoming Supercars season with Kostecki’s new race number announced, whilst the DJR team will also extend its Ford Performance partnership further into the future.

Kostecki will race with the #38 on his new Shell V-Power Mustang, as the 2023 drivers champion embarks on a new phase of his career.

The #38 has a strong connection to Dick Johnson himself, with the Australian Motorsport Hall of Famer having used the number in his first ever race meeting in 1964 at Lakeside in Queensland. The number 38 also graced the sides of the NASCARs Johnson competed in through the early 1990s.

DJR has announced the new digits for Kostecki’s debut year with the team

Kostecki has also previously raced under the number 38 when he competed in the Dunlop Super2 Series, providing a strong connection between Kostecki and Johnson and the new number.

“This year’s livery looks unbelievable,” Kostecki said.

“I’m also super excited to be racing with the number 38 this year. I know it has special meaning to ‘DJ’ but it’s also the number I ran during my time in the Dunlop Series so it still has a special place in my racing history as well.”

“With the car now revealed publicly, it’s time for me and the team to get to work, starting with my first drive of the Shell V-Power Mustang at our shakedown on 13 February at Queensland Raceway.”

And despite the recent shock announcement that Triple Eight Race Engineering will take over as the Ford homologation team in Supercars, Team Principal Dr Ryan Story AM also stated today that the team will enter its longest ever partnership agreement with the Blue Oval.

“Today, as we commence the campaign for our record 45th season in the Supercars Championship, we are delighted to announce that we will continue our journey with the Blue Oval long into the future,” Dr Story said.

“We are finalising the minor details on the longest sponsorship agreement DJR has ever negotiated with Ford Performance.”

The two new Shell V-Power Mustangs will debut their stunning new liveries on-track for the team’s upcoming shakedown event at Queensland Raceway on 13 February, before the pre-season test day at Sydney Motorsport Park on 19 February.
