Heuzenroeder to lead new GB3 team

Australia’s Patrick Heuzenroeder will spearhead newcomers Xcel Motorsport in the 2025 GB3 Championship.
It is a new home for 19-year-old from Sydney ahead of his sophomore GB3 season after making his full time debut last year with JHR Developments.
He brings experience to the Xcel Motorsport team having been 12th in the 2024 season, highlighted by a podium at Zandvoort.
Heuzenroeder will be the third Australian on the grid with Alex Ninovic and Gianmarco Pradel already confirmed at Rodin Motorsport.
Heuzenroeder is currently in New Zealand being a front runner in the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship where he sits fourth in the standings.

In his first taste of racing in New Zealand, he has been the leading Aussie, not finishing outside the top 10, while he picked up two podiums in the latest round at Teretonga.
He has passed more than 30 cars across the 12 races and stood on the podium three times.
But that is just being a warm up for a big year of GB3.
“I’m very excited to be joining Xcel Motorsport in my 2025 GB3 campaign,” Heuzenroeder said.
“I think we’ve got a great team, full of experience, and hungry to win. I can’t wait to get the season started in April.”
Heuzenroeder will continue enjoying the support of former F1 driver and 3x Le Mans Winner, David Brabham, who worked by his side last year.
Xcel Motorsport will turn to Heuzenroeder for guidance as teams take the new era GB3 car to famous European circuits such as Spa and Monza.
The new Tatuus MSV GB3-025 car is expected to have 35% more downforce and 30 more bhp than then old one plus bring DRS to the championship.

“We’re absolutely delighted to having been able to secure Patrick for the team and welcome him to Xcel Motorsport for our inaugural GB3 season. Patrick’s experience will be invaluable as we hit the ground running in 2025,” said Xcel Motorsport Team Manager Gary Bonnor.
“His performance last season and what he has been doing in the Formula Regional Oceania Championship over the winter shows he has what it takes to compete at the sharp end of the grid, and we’re committed to providing him with all the tools and support he needs to achieve even greater success this year.
“We’re excited to see what we can accomplish together.”
The season begins at Silverstone on April 26-27.
