Special liveries for F1 in Vegas

By Thomas Miles

Formula 1 is returning to the streets of Las Vegas this weekend and the likes of Racing Bulls, Alpine and Sauber all marking it with special liveries.

After a memorable inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix on and off the track last year, the fastest in the world will be racing down the strip again with Australian fans to enjoy a friendly start time of 17.00 AEDT Sunday.

Those tuning in will have some different looking cars to get used to.

Sauber was the first to change its colours, having made a little tweak to its usual look.

Sauber Las Vegas

The team has added a special flame-inspired livery for this weekend’s race symbolising an “unwavering spirit that this team doesn’t give up until the very end, no matter what challenges are thrown in front of it.”

Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu’s race suits will be adorned by flames as they prepare for their final races with the team.

“Stake has always helped us create some impressive one-off designs and this is no different,” said Team Representative Alessandro Alunni Bravi.

“Our special livery for Las Vegas is more than just a design – it’s a representation of our team’s ethos and of Stake’s philosophy.

“We push forward with relentless passion, just as this city does, and we’re excited to showcase our fiery spirit on one of the most thrilling stages in motorsport.”

Alpine Las Vegas

Having started the year in pink, Alpine is back in pink for the final three races in 2024.

However, the new all-pink look is a slight variation with much more colour after the earlier livery was dominated by carbon fibre.

Gasly and Ocon are still on a high from their special double podium in the Sao Paulo rain.

Racing Bulls was the latest to reveal a special look for the Saturday night race, running a glitter-inspired livery.

Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda will steer the car that has replaced the white parts of the livery with green.

As a result, the new Racing Bulls livery sparks memories of the Sauber liveries of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

“It wouldn’t be Las Vegas without a touch of glitter, and as the home of glitz, it only felt right to bring this livery to the Las Vegas race,” RB CEO Peter Bayer said.

“It holds a special place in the team’s history as it’s where we launched VCARB earlier this year.

“Since then, creative collaboration with our partners has led to upstanding liveries beyond the norm, allowing us to disrupt the way we do things in Formula 1, as we’ve seen in Miami and Singapore.

“I look forward to seeing the VCARB01 shimmering under the lights on track.”
