Miedecke Motorsport grows

By Thomas Miles

Having debuted the car in the 2024 GT4 Australia season, Miedecke Motorsport’s connection with the Ford GT4 Mustang will only grow.

Miedecke Motorsport has been appointed as the Multimatic agent for Australia and New Zealand, which will see GT4 competitors racing the Mustang able to purchase parts not only from Miedecke, but Ford dealers around the country as well.

George Miedecke has been racing the Mustang with Ryan Gray and the pair took victory on debut at Phillip Island, before taking further wins at The Bend and Queensland Raceway.

At the last round at Sydney a second GT4 Mustang hit the track for the first time thanks to Gomersall Motorsport.

Miedecke, who expects four Mustangs to be on the GT4 grid next year, is honoured by the growing partnership.

“We’re very proud to formalise the relationship with Multimatic,” said Miedecke.

“We’ve proven that the GT4 Mustang is a solid package and very strong especially with the Australian tracks. I feel like between Rylan, myself, dad (Andrew Miedecke) and Chris O’Toole on the engineering side, we’ve been able to advance the program.

“To see that faith rewarded in a program with GT4 where we can help the other Mustang customers is a cool feeling.

“From a timeframe point of view, getting a Mustang GT4 for next year is getting tight.

“There’s now four that have been sold in Australia, with Gomersall’s, our one and we’ve sold another, which will be on the grid next year.

“We have an opportunity for one or possibly two more before the start of next year and we’re currently discussing with a few interested buyers on those.

“We were the second order worldwide for the new GT4 and to repay the faith with the results we’ve been getting, plus now extending this into a business relationship is fantastic.”

Miedecke said customers can expect similar services to the Porsche system, but the added ability of turning to local Ford dealers for support.

“We’ll be providing support to all Mustang teams in Monochrome GT4 Australia for the foreseeable future,” he stated.
“We’ll have a really high level of support, so if a Mustang customer has an issue or a crash they will be able to come straight to our truck.

“It’ll be similar to the Porsche model where the customer buys the part, fits it on their car and keeps on racing.

“Especially, given the fact the Mustang GT4 is produced in Canada and some of the parts are very specialised, it’s a great thing for customers where they can have that peace of mind knowing 99.9% of the time we’ll have the part they require.

“It will be a fully mature support program with a truck full of components and customers will be able to rely on that.

“Interestingly, we don’t put any restriction on customers buying standard parts from Ford dealers and that’s part of the program as well,” said Miedecke.

“Between races, customers are more than welcome to go to their local Ford dealer and purchase original equipment, which is a great thing too.

“Having the 650 Mustang going on sale in Australia means that our customers will be spoiled for choice with support no matter where they are based, there’s a Ford dealer near you to provide the standard parts.

“We at Miedecke Motorsport will provide the bulk of the racing stuff.

“While the Mustang GT4 is built in Canada, the gearbox is a homegrown Holinger transmission, which can be serviced here in Australia.

“This again adds to the cost effective nature of this car and one of the reasons why we think it’ll be popular with customers.

“We think it will come close to being the most prolific model in Monochrome GT4 Australia and for good reason.”

The final GT4 Australia round is the Bathurst International on November 8-10.
