Porsche welcomes new Motorsport Manager

Craig Layda

By Thomas Miles

Craig Nayda has been revealed as the new Porsche Cars Australia Senior Motorsport Manager and will start next month.

Nayda, who has more than 15 years of motorsport experience, will begin the role in mid November.

It is a timely announcement as it comes almost four months after longtime predecessor Barry Hay left the job with immediate effect after more than two years.

Nayda comes to Porsche having spent time as the Category Manager in the Australian V8 Ute Racing Series, General Manager for Airtime Autosport and overseeing operations in the Toyota Gazoo Racing GR Australia Series.

He has also spent five years at the Adelaide 500 and performed a development role for Karting Australia.

Fittingly his first event in charge at Porsche will be the VAILO Adelaide 500 and Porsche Carrera Cup finale.

“We welcome Craig to the team at an exciting time for Porsche Motorsport in Australia,” said Porsche Cars Australia Marketing and Motorsport Director John Murray.

“Craig has extensive experience leading high profile, national categories and operating within major events, promotional bodies and across the commercial elements of the sport.

“That experience, coupled with his longstanding relationships within the industry and beyond, ensured he was a strong choice to lead the motorsport team and our categories going forward.”

The Porsche Carrera Cup Australia returns at Bathurst next weekend.
