Sold! Gen3 Supercars prototypes

Supercars Gen3 prototyple chassis bathurst 21

By Thomas Miles

Supercars has announced the Gen3 prototype Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and Ford Mustang GT chassis have been sold.

The cars completed in 2021 by Triple Eight Race Engineering and Dick Johnson Racing to test in the build up to 2023 will be handed over to the new buyer before next weekend’s Sandown 500.

The Camaro, with Supercars Chassis Number SC-001, and the Mustang, with Supercars Chassis Number SC-002, were sold in their original liveries.

“These prototypes offer a rare chance to acquire vehicles that symbolise the evolution of Supercars racing,” Supercars CEO Shane Howard said.

“We received significant interest over the last three years about the future of these prototypes and are thrilled that the new owner is very excited to be collecting these historic Supercars in the coming days.

“The prototypes were instrumental in testing both prior to and during the introduction of the Gen3 era, contributing to the aerodynamic parity confirmed through wind tunnel testing in North Carolina in December 2023 and January 2024.”

“YTG is very proud to have brought this incredibly unique opportunity to market for the very first time,” Founder of Young Timers Garage Shaun Baker said.

“The new owner is very excited to receive their slice of history over coming days.”
