Inaugural tyre returns to Bathurst 6 Hour

2017 bathurst 6 hour

By Thomas Miles

Hankook will return to being the official tyre supplier of the Bathurst 6 Hour event next year.

Hankook was the first tyre used when the race began in 2016 and carried on for the first three occasions.

In 2018 MRF Tyres took over and carried on suppling the rubber for this year’s race.

The new deal sees Hankook return with competitors to use the Ventus R-Spec Medium compound tyres throughout the 18-20 April 2025 event.

The specification will be developed by Hankook in Australia having previously been part of state and national level events at Mount Panorama and around the country, especially in Production Cars.

Currently Hankook supplies tyres for the Precision National Sports Sedans Series, First Focus Radical Cup Australia Series and Hyper racer Hankook Australian Drivers Championship.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Hankook back to the Mountain and the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour,” Event Manager Sally Parkinson said.

“After a long and detailed competitive process to determine the right tyre supplier moving forward, Hankook stood out as the best candidate to help us continue to grow the event while supplying a product that our competitors will get the most out of across the weekend.

“Their enthusiasm and long-term support of Australian Motorsport, and Production Car racing in particular, is outstanding and we are looking forward to working closely with them as the race continues to grow.

“We would like to thank MRF for their six years of outstanding support of the race and recognise their contribution in continuing to build the Bathurst 6 Hour to what it is today.”

“Hankook has been supporting Australian Motorsport for more than two decades and the brand is looking forward to reuniting with one of the most prestigious races, the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour,” Hankook Motorsport Advisor Terry Conroy said.

“Mount Panorama is the ultimate test of car, driver and tyres and Hankook is ready for that challenge.

“The Bathurst 6 Hour is special because it attracts competitors from all walks of life; from people living a lifelong dream to race on the Mountain to professional drivers looking to add another Bathurst classic to their CV.”

Entries will open for the Easter long weekend soon.
