Aussies flood Ferrari Academy

When the 2024 Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA) Asia Pacific and Oceania Selection Program heads to Malaysia, it will be full of Aussies.

Of the 13 drivers aged between 14-17 heading to Sepang on September 15-18, eight of them will be Australians, while India, Macau, Japan and Azerbaijan are also represented.

Costa Toparis, Dante Vinci, Harrison Duske, Lincoln Evans, Seth Gilmore, Nicolas Stati, Tyler Calleja, Cohen Kokotovich and JesseJames Samuels are the Australians looking to make a name for themselves.

The FDA Asia Pacific and Oceania Selection Program sees youngsters show their skills in front of Ferrari experts driving single seaters on an ex Formula 1 circuit.

Those who impress the most get selected to compete in the worldwide Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy Finals in Italy for a place in the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy.

Whilst many are new faces the likes, Aussie Stati is one of two returnees alongside Chheda.

Many of the youngsters have come from the Australian Formula 4 Championship and Australian Kart Championship, plus Chinese, UAE F4 varieties and the Formula Regional Middle East Championship.

Motorsport Australia plays a big role in the FDA and MA CEO Sunil Vohra is excited to see it progress into 2024.

“After the success of previous years, we’re pleased to be hosting another class of the region’s most talented drivers in partnership with the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy,” Vohra said.

“This year’s driver line-up is testament to the reach and influence of this program in the region and beyond, with five different countries represented across the 13 drivers of different ages and experience levels.

“This year’s program will provide drivers a varied curriculum, with opportunities on-track in the Formula 4 machinery as well as sessions that will enhance their experience and preparation for races, including media and sponsorship classes along with fitness tests and other motorsport related classes.

‘Congratulations to the drivers who have been selected and our team are looking forward to working with this talented in group in Sepang.”
