GT Road Trip to descend on Phillip Island

GT Road Trip

By Thomas Miles

The inaugural GT Festival will kick off with a selection of cars staging a “Road Trip” from the main land to the circuit this Thursday.

The GT Festival will see GT World Challenge Australia, GT4 Australia and Australian Production Cars go racing around Phillip Island this weekend in a standalone SRO Australia event.

To kick things off, a selection of GT World Challenge Australia and GT4 cars from each manufacturer will drive the 18km from Bass Coast College to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

After starting with a display for the students at the College, the cars will head over the San Remo Bridge before passing Newhaven, Cape Woolamai, Surf Beach and Smiths Beach to Back Beach Road where the famous seaside circuit lies.

The million dollar racers are due to depart Bass Coast College at 11:30am AEST, arriving at the circuit at 11:45am with fans welcome to attend.

“This is a really cool initiative and a great way for SRO Motorsports Australia to bring the racing to the people,” said SRO Motorsports Australia CEO Ben McMellan.

“We are offering free entry to all race fans for the event, and that has been met with a great response, so the road trip is just another way to get the fans involved.

“We’re really looking forward to the GT Festival. There will be plenty for the fans to see and we know that the racing will be top class.”
