WAU celebrates Mobil 1 milestone
For the second year in a row, Walkinshaw Andretti United (WAU) has saluted iconic sponsor Mobil 1 at Sydney Motorsport Park.
After a subtle tweak on the bonnet in 2023, a much bigger tribute will be seen at this weekend’s Sydney SuperNight.
Both WAU Mustangs of Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood have turned black and gold celebrating Mobil 1’s 50th anniversary.
In addition to the colour change, the Pegasus, Mobil 1’s horse with wings has returned on the bonnet.
It is the first time the Pegasus has been seen in Supercars since 1999 when it appeared on both edges of the front guard of the Holden VT Commodores of Craig Lowndes and Mark Skaife.

Mobil 1 is one of the most recognisable brands in world motorsport and its partnership with WAU has been front and centre.
The pair have been together ever since 1994 and the logo has been on the team’s cars throughout both the HRT era and now in WAU’s new Ford chapter.
Fittingly HRT’s first win with Mobil 1 arrived at SMP, what was then known as Eastern Creek, thanks to a famous drive from Peter Brock in 1994.
“It’s a privilege to run the special Mobil 1 50 years livery this weekend, the gold looks fantastic, and under lights it’s going to look even better,” WAU CEO Bruce Stewart said.
“It’s also awesome to have Pegasus on the bonnet of both cars as well, we haven’t seen it since 1999 on our cars, I think it’s going to be extremely nostalgic for a lot of fans.
“The Mobil 1 logo is iconic with this team, and iconic worldwide, so it’s fantastic to be able to join in the celebrations this weekend, fittingly, where the team and Mobil 1 first won together at Sydney Motorsport Park in 1994.
“Our 31-year history with Mobil 1 has been an outstanding success, both on and off track, and is the definition of the word partnership, so we can’t thank everyone involved enough, and we are equally excited about what’s to come.”
