Massive Aussie Racing Cars grid

By Thomas Miles

A massive 40-car field of Aussie Racing Cars are charging to Townsville this weekend for round 4 of the 2024 season.

Leading the way will be championship leader Joel Heinrich, who has taken five wins this year and won all three rounds so far to enjoy a solid nine-point lead over Kody Garland.

The likes of Ken Quinn and Cody Brewczynski will also hoping to make major inroads, while Brandon Madden showed strong speed in the last round at Ipswich.

Brewczynski will especially be one to watch having burst onto the scene at Townsville last year.

A big name to watch out for will be Paul Morris, who makes his comeback to the category.

The last appearance of the “Dude” in the buzzboxes was in 2020 where he took a solid haul of three podiums from four races, while he took two wins in 2018.

Other drivers in the Gold Cup will be Tony Quinn and Chad Chapman – both of whom will be battling their sons Kent and Reece respectively.

For the first time this year, the Women’s Championship Trophy is on the line as Emma Clark takes on former Porsche Carrera Cup Australia regular Courtney Prince.

Four races will be sprinkled across all three days of the 2024 Townsville 500.
